Our favorite Apps – 2011 Edition (part 1)
Thanks to advancements in technology and the internet, there are thousands of great apps and services out there that can help your church run smoothly. In this post we are going to highlight a few of our favorites. Most of the apps we list here are either completely free, free for churches or have free versions that may fit your needs.
These may or may not be the best fit for your ministry, the only way to find out is to check them out. Take them for a spin and let us know what you think. If you have other suggestions of apps that you think churches would benefit from using, please send us a message or comment below to share them with us!
Google Places

Google Places is hopefully something that you are already taking advantage of. If not, stop right here and go get set up with it! Gone are the days of people looking in phone books for your information. If your church isn’t on Google Places, you are not reaching out to people that you easily could be.
Mail Chimp

Mail Chimp is a great solution for your email newsletters. It is free for up to 2,000 subscribers and up to 12,000 emails sent per month. They make it really simple to start a new email campaign and offer a bunch of great features. I could talk about all the awesome things Mail Chimp offers for days but that is another post for another time. If you are not using Mail Chimp, watch the video above and check out their page.
Planning Center Online

When organizing a worship service, team and songs, nothing comes close to planning center. It is one of those services that I simply can’t imagine my life without. Planning center saves you time, keeps you organized and keeps your staff and volunteers informed. But it is more than just an organizational tool. For me, it helps pull together the focus and overall direction of a service.
Watching the video and checking out the site will only showcase a small percentage of cool features planning center has to offer. Check out the free trial today.

Church Metrics is a wonderful service from lifechurch.tv that offers a solution that covers several church needs. It organizes your attendance, baptisms, salvations and donations into easy to read graphs. They give your church leadership a quick overview of the numbers to help with decision making. Check out the video above and their website. Church Metrics is a free service and well worth checking out.
