Steve and Sheik jump right into the main topic of training volunteers to use ProPresenter. Sheik describes having volunteers operate ProPresenter alongside him on stage as a hands-on training approach. In contrast, Steve highlights the importance of a formalized training process.

Subsequently, Steve outlines his structured plan he has implemented in previous churches. Initially, he would have new volunteers watch tutorial videos and meet for a basic rundown. Then, they would attend rehearsals for practice before being scheduled on Sundays with an experienced operator as a safety net. Eventually, after demonstrating proficiency, volunteers could run ProPresenter independently.

Additionally, Steve discusses using a sort of “master classes” where full production rehearsals allowed volunteers practical experience. Furthermore, he emphasized constant evaluation to refine the training process.

Transitioning to recruitment, Sheik shared seeking out quieter individuals rather than “rockstars.” Sometimes we tend to type cast who should volunteer and often times, quieter people just need to be asked. Steve adds and advocates for pastors to promote the felt needs from the pulpit to attract volunteers.
